Filmless Feature, Opening Night!

7 September 2012 No Comment

Of all the years I’ve attended TIFF, the only time I went to a movie on Opening Night was the year I won Opening Night Film Tickets, and it was great. Sometimes, I don’t do much of anything to celebrate, but this year I went for dinner at Luma (at the TIFF Bell Lightbox), and The Drake Hotel’s opening night party with the ever delightful Angelina.

My two highlights of the evening were not very exciting, to be honest.

First, I totally saw Cameron Bailey coming out of the washroom at The Lightbox. That’s my first quasi-celebrity sighting.

Second, the line up for The Drake was long an generally boring, except the weather was delightful, and we could hear the band through the windows…
It was almost like being in a better, non-alcoholic, version of the club.

Not being a huge fan of music, I really don’t know who The Darcys are, but we got in just in time to see them play. We found a comfy booth and enjoyed our successful evening. Nothing much more to it then that.

Tonight kicks off my first film of the fest, Anna Karenina featuring TIFF sweetheart Keira Knightley, I had also hoped to snag tickets to Seven Psychopaths, but it was the one film that played illusive with me this year. I may still pop by Ryerson for the Red Carpet though, hoping to get a glimpse of the all-star cast.

EDITED TO ADD: We Got Tickets to Seven Psychopaths!!!, See you tonight Colin Ferrell ;)

See you at the movies!
