Welcome readers, to my blog about the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival.

While I’ve blogged in the past about this fantastic event, I’ve never managed to really stay on top of it. (See uncompleted: 2007, and 2006). However this year is to be my grand return to TIFF Blogging, and with it a brand new page, as well as a new agenda.

Some of the funniest, most interesting, unique and cult-worthy films come out of the Midnight Madness pack. It’s almost like a film festival in and of itself within the proper full film festival, there are whole groups of people who just get MM packs and they form their own sort …

Knowing that I would be able to attend each and every day of the film festival this year, I went ahead and purchased myself two Advance Order packages. For those of you unfamiliar with the Toronto International Film Festival ticket process, basically you can buy a pack in advance and …

Regardless of buying an Advance Order package, I still end up on the Tiff Online Box Office at 7am the day of sale, for a very long, inappropriate amount of time hitting refresh, praying that whatever ticket(s) I’m trying to obtain will still be available. TIFF has, hands down, the …

Well, this was unexpected.
I entered a contest at Communal Table food blog (I think I saw a post on twitter about the contest?), and amazingly won 2 Tickets to the Opening Night Gala Screening & Party. HOLY CRAP! I can’t believe it still, but here’s the proof:

As it turns …

Or, ‘How I’m going to survive eleven days of walking around Downtown Toronto and waiting in Endless Lines’.
I don’t consider myself a TIFF expert by any means. This is only my fifth year attending the ‘fest and there are lots of people who have been more often than me, and …

I think I’m fully prepared for the festival, but I’m a little worried about what exactly I’ve gotten myself into!
Sure, seeing 24 movies in 11 days is crazy. Commuting into and out of the city most of those days is going to be taxing, adding a Opening Night Gala Premiere …

Being super lucky won me the chance to attend this Gala Opening Night film, and the Party;
SCORE: A HOCKEY MUSICAL
8:00pm, Roy Thompson Hall.
We arrived about 7pm to Roy Thompson, and headed to the Priority Line (because that is what our tickets said!), and stood for only 10 minutes or so …

DAYDREAM NATION
6:00pm, Ryerson Theatre.
Daydream Nation is a movie about a Manic Pixie Dream Girl, her awkward, emotionally fucked up Boyfriend, and the Obsessive, narcissistic Teacher she is sleeping with. All set in a small town, where the only form of entertainment seems to be heavy recreational drug use. Written by …

THE KINGS SPEECH
12:00pm, Ryerson Theatre.
Although I didn’t get up until after ten o’clock this morning it still felt like a very early morning, because of last nights midnight madness, I didn’t get to bed until after 3am. Luckily, Ahli let me stay at her place, just a few blocks from …

Seriously, what the hell?
I apparently have a knack for finding videos of myself, as taken by strangers, on YouTube.
This recently happened during FanExpo (read about how basically someone took a video of me and a Dalek) and I found it randomly. Today, since I had a few extra hours (because …

DEEP IN THE WOODS
12:00pm, Varsity Cinemas.
I was too tired, so I slept in and I did not go. I hope it was good .
GRIFF THE INVISIBLE
4:00pm, AMC Theatres.
After being sort of, I’m not going to say disappointed, I guess ‘Taken Aback’ by Super – I was weary of another “DIY …

OUR DAY WILL COME
3:30pm, Scotiabank Theatres.
What can I say about ‘Our Day Will Come’? It was an unexpected delight to have Colin Geddes (the infamous Midnight Madness program director) introduce the movie, whom is apparently a redhead, I guess. Seeing it in the middle of the afternoon, with a group …

Black Swan
11:00am, VISA Screening Room (Elgin Theatre).
Made a decision to let myself sleep in a bit and catch the train that would get me to Toronto with only a little over 1/2 an hour before Black Swan, so i ended up near the rear of the longest TIFF line I’ve …

HOW TO START YOUR OWN COUNTRY
2:30pm, AMC Theatres.
Wow am I grateful to have a day like today, right in the middle of my TIFF marathon. Two movies that I am quite looking forward to, and don’t run too early or late. Both at one theatre, to boot!
How to start your …

PEEP WORLD
11:00am, VISA Screening Room (Elgin Theatre).
Peep world is a movie about a fictional book, which is being made into a movie. I suppose you could call it a story about a dysfunctional family. It will no doubt be compared to The Royal Tenenbaums, only less interesting and dramatic. It …

SARAH’S KEY
12:00pm, Ryerson Theatre.
By this day I was already starting to feel quite run down. I dragged myself to Sarah’s Key because I had heard great things.
I was not disappointed. This is the story of a reporter uncovering the life of a young Jewish french girl named Sarah, and her …
